Reel Tracker Privacy Policy
Reel Tracker ("the app") helps you see how many Instagram reels you watch and how much time you spend on them. This policy explains what the app accesses and what happens to that information. In short: everything stays on your phone.
Accessibility Service
The app uses Android's Accessibility Service API, and only after you read an in-app explanation and turn it on yourself in Android Settings. It is used to:
- notice when Instagram is open, so time spent can be measured;
- notice when you swipe to a new reel, so reels can be counted.
The service is limited to the Instagram app (com.instagram.android). It reads only Instagram's internal layout identifiers and the position of the reel on screen. It does not read text, messages, captions, usernames, comments or the content of any reel, and it does not observe any other app. You can turn it off at any time in Settings > Accessibility.
Information stored
For each day, the app stores the number of reels watched, time spent on reels and time spent on Instagram, plus your settings (daily limit, alert preference). This is stored only in the app's private storage on your device.
Information shared
None. The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no servers. It does not request internet access, so it cannot send your data anywhere. No data is sold or shared with third parties.
Notifications and widget
If you allow notifications, the app shows today's totals in a notification and can alert you when you approach your daily limit. The home-screen widget shows the same totals. Both are generated on your device.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Settings > Apps > Reel Tracker, permanently deletes all stored data.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
